Research Dimensions of Yoga with Special Emphasis on Yoga Therapy

12 noon. Presenter: Dr. H.R. Nagendra, Ph.D.President, Vivekananda Yoga Anusandhăna Sansthăna (VYASA),director of VYASA, a yoga research, therapy and training institute in Bangalore, India. This institute is the most active yoga research group in the world and has published numerous papers in the field of basic, applied and clinical research in yoga. VYASA has achieved the status of a deemed university in India, and is awarding degrees in yoga research. It also conducts yoga therapy programs for patients in residence, training courses for yoga instructors and holds international yoga research conferences. Recently, VYASA, together with the UCSF Osher Center for Integrative Medicine (OCIM), was awarded a Planning Grant for International Centers for Research on Complementary and Alternative Medicine from the National Center for Complementary and Alternative Medicine.
